Sony Pictures cuts release cycles from months to minutes with Stelligent

Sony Pictures Technologies' Digital Media Group (DMG) faced a challenge in the "last mile" of its software delivery lifecycle, where manual processes prevented regular releases and caused delays of months after development was complete. To achieve greater agility and reduce costs, DMG partnered with vendor Stelligent to create a solution for one-click delivery of new features and infrastructure updates on Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Working with Stelligent, DMG implemented a fully automated Cloud Delivery system using AWS components like CloudFormation and EC2, alongside open-source tools such as Jenkins and Chef. This continuous delivery solution from Stelligent enabled more frequent one-click releases, higher security, and a significant reduction in its release process from months to minutes, allowing developers to focus on new features while only paying for the infrastructure they use.
