How IRC Distributed Cash Assistance Through Stellar Aid Assist

The International Rescue Committee (IRC), a humanitarian aid organization, faced the challenge of delivering immediate and timely cash assistance to people affected by the war in Ukraine. To meet the urgent needs of displaced populations for items like food and shelter, IRC partnered with Stellar to pilot a new solution using the Stellar Aid Assist service and the Stellar Disbursement Platform.

Stellar implemented a blockchain-powered system for digital aid delivery. This allowed IRC to disburse funds securely to recipients' digital wallets via SMS. The solution was highly successful, enabling 278 individuals to receive aid that was easy to access and cash out. The pilot achieved a 100% recipient satisfaction rate, with 94% finding the process easy, proving a new scalable model for efficient and transparent humanitarian aid.
