Andrew Scheps transforms mixing with Steinberg’s SpectraLayers for real-time cleanup

Andrew Scheps, a Grammy-winning music producer and mixer, often works with recordings captured in less than ideal circumstances, dealing with issues like audio bleed. His interest in mixing for Dolby Atmos led him to seek a tool that could provide unprecedented control over individual tracks. This challenge brought him to the vendor, Steinberg, and their product, SpectraLayers.

Steinberg's SpectraLayers provided a solution by allowing Scheps to visually isolate and edit any part of an audio track in real time within his Cubase workflow. Using tools like De-Bleed, he could remove unwanted sounds or creatively reintegrate them, enabling a level of cleanup and creative choice previously impossible. As a result, Scheps found SpectraLayers to be one of the most flexible and effective tools for achieving the precise control he demands in his mixing process.
