A Steerpath Case Study
Aalto University, the largest university campus in Finland, faced significant challenges with wayfinding and space utilization across its expansive campus. New students struggled to navigate the vast area and locate services, while the university itself had no shared map data, instead relying on numerous siloed and single-use geospatial assets. To address this, they turned to Steerpath for its Indoor Navigation solution.
Steerpath implemented a solution that became the core of the Aalto Space Campus Application, which achieved over 18,000 installs and 5,000 active users. The platform created a single, shared map dataset for the entire campus, covering 200,000 square meters and 18 buildings. This allowed for seamless indoor and outdoor navigation, easy room booking, and access to service information. The implementation by Steerpath saved the university significant maintenance effort by eliminating the need for multiple individual maps and provided a foundational digital platform for the entire university community.
