A Stealthbits Case Study
A major US insurance company faced a significant challenge while preparing for a migration to Exchange 2013 and Office 365. Microsoft's requirements stipulated that their environment of over 400,000 Exchange Public Folders needed to be reduced to just 100,000. The customer needed to identify folder owners to determine which folders could be defensibly deleted or archived but lacked the internal resources to manage this massive undertaking. They enlisted STEALTHbits and its StealthAUDIT product to address this crisis.
STEALTHbits implemented a comprehensive solution using StealthAUDIT for Exchange and Active Directory to identify all folder owners and their contact information. Their Professional Services Team then built and managed a custom workflow, which included a web-based survey sent to owners and a clever algorithm to prevent survey fatigue. STEALTHbits ultimately took over the daily execution of the entire process, successfully enabling the customer to identify redundant, obsolete, or trivial data and dramatically reduce their public folder count to meet Microsoft's migration requirements.
