Empowering Business Owners to Govern Access to Unstructured Data

The City of Greater Sudbury, a large municipality with a vast network of 160 locations and 2,000 users, faced significant challenges in managing user access to file shares. Their IT team struggled to keep up with manual access requests and generate accurate access reports, especially as employees frequently changed roles. This inefficient process created security concerns and a heavy workload for IT staff who acted as middlemen for approvals.

The vendor Stealthbits implemented its StealthAUDIT solution with the Access Information Center (AIC) to address these issues. This gave 70 division managers direct visibility and control over user permissions for 400 file shares. The solution significantly reduced the IT workload, improved user productivity by speeding up access approvals, and enhanced overall security. Stealthbits provided a flexible implementation, and the city was pleased with the results, including faster remediation of access issues and increased operational efficiency.
