Illingworth Research faced a growing safety and administrative challenge for its Mobile Research Nurses: a manual buddy-call lone worker system that was laborious, error-prone and unsuited to increasing visit volumes. To address this, Illingworth Research partnered with StaySafe and adopted the StaySafe lone worker app to improve nurse safety during off-site clinical trial visits.

StaySafe’s app provides GPS tracking, simple check-in/end/extend controls and a panic alarm with instant notifications to the central team, replacing the manual buddy system. Trialled on 150 research visits across 10 countries, the StaySafe solution reduced administration time, gave nurses greater control over visits, increased their sense of security, and enabled Illingworth Research to be the first provider in the pharmaceutical sector to offer this level of lone-worker protection, with global rollout planned.
