Interview Cake, founded by Parker Phinney, helps software engineering candidates prepare for programming interviews. As the company grew to a small team in Brooklyn, Parker noticed they were losing focus to emails and miscellaneous tasks, leaving days without meaningful progress. He wanted a more proactive way to keep the team aligned on priorities, and found that Status Hero fit the need.

Using Status Hero, the Interview Cake team began ending each day by reflecting on what they accomplished and what they would focus on next, then reviewing those check-ins in a daily standing meeting. The new structure helped them stay accountable without micromanagement, and Parker said they were “making real progress again” while still maintaining a “cool boss” management style.
