Georgia-Pacific - Customer Case Study

Georgia-Pacific Resins (GPRI), a manufacturer of polymeric materials for industries such as wood products, aerospace and paper, faced customer demands for reduced variation and more robust resins. Two critical quality factors were percentage Wood Failure (bond strength) and Moisture Content of the wood; GPRI needed a resin that maintained high bond performance across varying moisture levels and at lower resin spread to save customers time and cost.

GPRI implemented StatSoft’s STATISTICA Enterprise-Wide SPC System (SEWSS), used DOE and built statistical expertise through training to design experiments and analyze process data. Using SEWSS, R&D developed a new resin that delivered higher overall Wood Failure and more consistent, robust performance across different spreads and moisture conditions.
