3M France’s Beauchamp site — which manufactures Post-it®, Scotch™ tapes and Scotch-Brite™ abrasives — needed to sustain gains from multiple Six Sigma projects and keep critical process variables under control across several production lines. The challenge was to give operators and managers fast, visual access to quality and process data so trends and drifts could be detected and corrected quickly, without adding extra resources.

StatSoft’s STATISTICA Enterprise was deployed to create visual SPC charts and dashboards fed from automated supervision systems and a central database, with minute-by-minute updates. Operators record measurements, use SPC run tests and Cpk monitoring to spot trends, attach comments, and make instant adjustments; SQL-driven indicators (data capture rate, supplier acceptance, defects by type, output by lot, weekly waste) and a monthly Dashboard Cpk supported continuous improvement, saved time accessing data, and helped reduce non-quality costs.
