The University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point, a public university serving about 9,000 students, faced growing demand for network storage and needed highly available shared storage to protect users’ data and keep classes running. Their previous approach—adding individual file servers—created server sprawl, uneven disk utilization, frequent manual share moves, downtime and rising costs.

UWSP deployed StarWind Virtual SAN, quickly clustering two StarWind HA servers with two front-end file servers to provide automatic failover and backend flexibility.
