A StarWind Software Case Study
The Society of St James, a leading homelessness charity in Hampshire, faced a fragmented, underutilized IT environment built on seven physical servers and multiple NAS devices. Chaotic file copies, high latency, poor backups and frequent downtime meant the charity needed to organize storage, ensure constant uptime and make optimal use of existing hardware without buying new equipment.
By deploying StarWind Virtual SAN the charity consolidated offices over MPLS, created a highly available Hyper-V cluster, and split workloads between on‑prem and cloud while leveraging deduplication, a log-structured write-back cache and data locality. The result was a fault-tolerant, easy-to-manage infrastructure that eliminated downtime, improved backup and storage efficiency, and saved the charity significant funds.
