The Psychiatric Hospital in Opava Goes Hyper-Converged with StarWind VSAN

The Psychiatric Hospital in Opava is a Czech governmental medical facility treating over 6,500 patients annually that needed to modernize its IT to meet strict data-security regulations and support new information systems. Its legacy setup—three physical servers with vSphere—was to be replaced by a hyper-converged design; an initial plan using HPE ProLiant servers and HPE VSA was reconsidered after a partner recommended an alternative.

The hospital implemented StarWind Virtual SAN, which integrated with its existing commodity hardware and was deployed under StarWind engineers’ supervision. The change delivered significantly more usable storage, improved data security and high availability, all without purchasing new proprietary hardware.
