A StarWind Software Case Study
Tetraedro, a Lisbon-based hosting and IT services provider focused on SMBs, was running Hyper-V clusters on HP servers with MSA SANs to deliver virtual private servers and cloud services to more than 150 clients. As the environment grew (multiple hosts, 8 CPUs, 578 GB RAM), the company needed a highly available SAN that could support 4+ high-density Hyper-V hosts, offer flexible multi-tier storage for differentiated service levels, and allow predictable, cost-efficient expansion without downtime.
Tetraedro chose StarWind Virtual SAN, which let them grow SSD, SAS and SATA tiers independently, simplify storage maintenance, and expand or swap disks with no downtime. The deployment delivered high-performance, resilient volumes, helped troubleshoot RAID card failures without service interruption, and gave the company predictable pricing and more options for purchasing and scaling storage; they now run a 2-node hyperconverged setup with plans to add dedicated storage nodes and asynchronous replication for DR.
