A StarWind Software Case Study
BBK B.V., a Dutch manufacturer of ready-made mailboxes and sandwich panels, was running a VMware ESXi 4.1 two-node cluster with mirrored guest servers and HP StorageWorks mirroring, but the aging setup could no longer meet new performance and application requirements. They replaced the Storage Mirroring Failover Cluster with Windows Server Failover Clustering, which required shared storage built from local disk arrays — prompting a move to a distributed software‑defined storage solution.
After evaluating options, BBK selected StarWind Virtual SAN; it was easy to configure and tune to their architecture, passed stability, load and recovery tests, and enabled the WSFC deployment. StarWind modernized the mirrored server configuration, has performed reliably in production, and leaves headroom for planned future expansion.
