A StarWind Software Case Study
South Gibson School Corporation, the largest public school district in Gibson County, Indiana (one high school and three K–8 schools with over 190 staff and a >90% graduation rate), was running an aging, non‑virtualized IT environment that was hard to manage and required hardware updates or replacements. The district sought to reduce hardware, simplify administration, and improve reliability and disaster recovery.
By deploying StarWind Virtual SAN for its simplicity, cost‑efficiency and hardware‑agnostic design, SGSC virtualized its infrastructure, cutting production servers from 25 to 6, lowering cooling and energy costs, and simplifying management. The redundant virtualized setup improved disaster recovery and allowed maintenance without downtime; the district reports about seven years of continuous operation with no production outages.
