A StarWind Software Case Study
Simplify Technology, a U.S. managed services provider, was engaged to modernize the IT infrastructure of a large industrial-materials client that suffered from an “Inverted Pyramid of Doom”: a single SAN with multiple standalone hosts, mixed hypervisors and no fault tolerance or high availability. That architecture created a single point of failure (SPOF), left the business exposed to costly downtime, and a VMware vSAN trial proved too expensive and unable to meet HA requirements.
Simplify Technology deployed StarWind VSAN on ultra-fast enterprise SSDs to provide shared storage, HA and fault tolerance, eliminating the SPOF. A failover cluster enabled live VM migration during a lightning strike that knocked out a 10G switch, allowing operations to continue with zero downtime while damaged hardware was replaced — a cost-effective, reliable result the team credits to StarWind.
