Case Study: Regina Catholic Schools achieves 24/7 high availability and seamless VM live-migration with StarWind Software's vSAN

A StarWind Software Case Study

Preview of the Regina Catholic Schools Case Study

Regina Catholic Schools ensures 24/7 operations by creating a high availability (HA) cluster powered by StarWind Virtual SAN (vSAN)

Regina Catholic Schools, a Canadian K–12 publicly funded Catholic division, was running about 12–15 virtual machines on two on-prem Hyper‑V servers with hardware redundancy but no fault tolerance. Manual VM migrations were slow and the environment lacked support for Hyper‑V native live migration, so the IT team sought a shared storage solution to enable a failover cluster and reliable high availability.

They selected StarWind Virtual SAN for its features and price, and—with assistance from the StarWind support team—built a high‑availability cluster. The school can now live‑migrate VMs between hosts and fail over to a single host if one fails, delivering a scalable, fault‑tolerant infrastructure with improved application uptime.
