Pekao Financial Services built a storage replication system and ensured the required fault tolerance (FT) at 1/10th of a typical competitor’s price with StarWind

Pekao Financial Services, a Polish provider of outsourcing services for financial institutions, needed a cost-effective way to ensure fault tolerance and high availability for large volumes of financial data. Its VMware vSphere environment had no storage replication and VMware vSAN proved roughly ten times more expensive, so the company sought an affordable replication solution that could run on existing hardware without breaking the budget.

Pekao deployed StarWind Virtual SAN on its current servers and vSphere hypervisor, gaining asynchronous, snapshot-based replication that avoids performance and space over‑provisioning. The solution delivered the required data safety, FT and HA while running on legacy hardware and costing about one-tenth of typical competitor offerings, with vendor support helping simplify installation and deployment.
