Case Study: Olin Corporation achieves high availability and a fault‑tolerant clustered virtual environment with StarWind Software

A StarWind Software Case Study

Preview of the Olin Corporation Case Study

Olin Corporation ensured highly available (HA) and fault-tolerant (FT) clustered virtual environment with StarWind

Olin Corporation, a U.S. chemical and ammunition manufacturer with offices in over 20 countries and more than 30 plants in North America, faced a vulnerable IT setup: a non-clustered virtual environment running two VMs on a single physical host. This configuration offered no high availability, fault tolerance, or disaster recovery, putting company data and operations at risk from hardware or software failures.

Olin deployed StarWind Virtual SAN on its existing hardware to present the VMs as clustered nodes, enabling high availability, fault tolerance with zero-downtime failover, and dynamic backup processes. The implementation met reliability goals, and Olin plans to roll the solution out across its 39 plants; IT admin Byron K. Wallace confirmed the infrastructure now satisfies their needs.
