Neuron Computer Services, LLC is a U.S. managed services provider hosting private cloud services (Exchange, file sharing and business apps) for small and mid-sized businesses. The company relied on rotating external hard drives shipped in a Pelican case for offsite backups (a costly sneakernet) and faced risks from mechanical failure, shipping damage and a lack of cloud-targeting in their Veeam backup workflow.

Neuron replaced the manual process with StarWind Virtual Tape Library, which integrates with Veeam and backs up to low-cost Backblaze B2 cloud storage. The VTL removed sneakernet backups, sped up and automated backups, lowered storage costs, and eliminated risks of drive loss or shipment damage while keeping the solution within budget.
