A StarWind Software Case Study
Netcore’s VaiSulWeb division, an Italian IT and web-hosting provider, needed to move to a software-defined, hyper-converged infrastructure to simplify management, reduce hardware costs and avoid vendor lock-in. Their existing Windows Server 2012 R2 virtualization clusters were spread across datacenters, and Microsoft Storage Spaces Direct required larger clusters and high memory and hardware specs that didn’t meet their goals.
They deployed StarWind Virtual SAN, which supports two‑node configurations, flexible hardware requirements and a flat-file option for simpler rollout. This enabled consolidation into smaller hyper‑converged clusters, cut hardware costs while improving performance and resiliency, simplified management and DR, and freed budget to introduce features such as storage replication.
