A StarWind Software Case Study
MTB Bank, a major national bank in Ukraine, needed to move from direct-attached storage to shared SAN storage to support Exchange and SQL upgrades and to build resilient server clusters on new HP ProLiant hardware. Fibre Channel was prohibitively expensive and physically impractical (thick brick walls), and most affordable iSCSI options were Linux-based, which conflicted with the bank’s all‑Windows strategy.
The bank selected StarWind Virtual SAN, a Windows-based iSCSI solution, trialed it on a ProLiant server with high-speed SAS drives, then quickly deployed it across production servers. In hours they moved to a scalable shared storage environment that enabled clustering, disaster recovery and regulatory compliance, reused existing Ethernet and Windows infrastructure, and delivered enterprise SAN features at a fraction of Fibre Channel costs.
