Case Study: LocalTel Communications achieves high availability, reliability and 3-5x performance with StarWind Software

A StarWind Software Case Study

Preview of the LocalTel Communications Case Study

LocalTel Communications Deployed StarWind as its Primary Storage to Obtain Necessary Level of Redundancy and Reliability

LocalTel Communications, a telecommunications subsidiary of Computer 5 based in East Wenatchee, outgrew its legacy iSCSI storage and began experiencing synchronization failures, resource exhaustion and outages. With roughly 200 VMs and heavy I/O demands, the company needed a cost‑conscious, highly redundant and reliable storage solution it could deploy quickly.

LocalTel deployed StarWind Virtual SAN on existing servers to build a 3‑node active‑active‑active HA cluster, allowing live migrations, maintenance without outages and continued operation through a hardware failure during migration. The deployment stayed within budget, delivered 3–5x performance gains (sustained cluster peaks ~250 MB/s, rebuild rates ~2 GB/s, 1,000–5,000 IOPS without latency), and provided scalable, fault‑tolerant storage that grows with the business.
