A StarWind Software Case Study
Lees-McRae College, a private residential college in North Carolina, was burdened by server sprawl and aging infrastructure: six standalone Hyper-V hosts with end-of-life hardware, frequent spinning-disk failures, no failover, slow 1Gbps live migrations, and time-consuming maintenance that left VMs offline during host updates.
The college deployed StarWind HyperConverged Appliance (HCA), moving from six spinning-disk servers to a two-node all-flash hyperconverged cluster that provides redundancy, instantaneous failover, faster VM migrations and simpler maintenance. The consolidation reduced footprint and costs, saved more than $13,000 in upfront expenses, and was supported by comprehensive StarWind implementation assistance.
