Lancaster Baptist Church Meets the Perfect Companion to Their Ever-growing IT Infrastructure — StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN)

Lancaster Baptist Church — a large campus that includes West Coast Baptist College and Lancaster Baptist School — faced mounting IT demands after expanding its Hyper‑V environment from a single RAID‑5 SSD storage server to a 5‑node cluster supporting 20+ new physical servers, 40+ applications, and an infrastructure of over 1,000 devices, 150 access points and 50 switches. The rapid growth exposed gaps in redundancy: the environment lacked high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) capabilities needed to keep services continuously available.

The church selected StarWind Virtual SAN because it could be deployed on existing hardware and unified the environment into a fault‑tolerant cluster. Using mirroring, deduplication, data locality, server‑side cache and built‑in HA, StarWind delivered redundancy for expansion, upgrades and DR, enabling constant uptime and easy scale‑out/scale‑up as needed. The result was a stable, sustainable infrastructure with positive support and cost outcomes, according to IT Director Tom Francis.
