A StarWind Software Case Study
Krida Wacana Christian University (UKRIDA), a private higher-education institution in Jakarta, faced growing availability and performance issues after building a virtualized environment on four physical servers using direct-attached storage (DAS). The DAS design prevented a single storage pool, so the university lacked high availability (HA) and load balancing, relied on manual restores after failures, and found other options—like VMware vSAN or hypervisor replication tools—either too costly or operationally complex.
StarWind Virtual SAN delivered a single shared storage pool with a minimal hardware footprint (only two nodes) and worked with the existing servers, giving UKRIDA the required HA and load balancing for mission-critical academic apps. The solution proved affordable, easy to deploy and maintain, and offered performance boosts (RAM caching), eliminating downtime risks and improving resource utilization and data safety for the university.
