Johnson’s Construction Ltd., a heavy civil construction firm operating across Newfoundland and Labrador for over 30 years, was running a virtual environment (three Hyper‑V servers hosting 11 VMs) and needed to remove a single point of failure. While Microsoft Server 2012 R2 supported a Hyper‑V failover cluster, it did not protect the file server that hosted the Hyper‑V disks, leaving the company exposed to potentially catastrophic downtime.

The company deployed StarWind Virtual SAN to create a 2‑node highly available failover file server and Hyper‑V cluster, which eliminated the single point of failure and made the system resilient to outages.
