A StarWind Software Case Study
Medved Holding Group, one of Russia’s largest automobile dealerships, faced rapid growth and the need to virtualize its IT to support increasing email, documents and remote offices. They chose Microsoft Hyper-V but discovered they needed a Storage Area Network to gain full HA benefits—without the budget or desire to buy additional servers and Windows licenses.
They implemented StarWind Native SAN for Hyper-V, which installs in the Hyper-V parent partition and uses existing hosts to deliver active‑active, highly available shared storage. The solution eliminated the need for extra hardware or OS licenses, cut server count nearly in half, delivered strong performance and redundancy with zero downtime, and produced a 44% hardware savings (about $8,565), reducing total HA storage clustering costs to $19,650 versus a projected $39,300.
