A StarWind Software Case Study
Garland Power & Light (GP&L), a large municipal electric utility in Garland, Texas, needed shared storage for a Dell PowerEdge FX2 chassis setup where two compute blades must simultaneously access two storage sleds. The key challenge was delivering shared storage in a compute-and-storage-separated scenario to support part of GP&L’s production environment.
GP&L deployed StarWind Virtual SAN, chosen for its reputation and customer experience; the solution replicates data between the storage sleds to form a virtual storage pool accessible by both blades and uses direct links to create the replication network. The deployment delivered the required shared access and stable operation — “so far, everything has been solid,” according to the Sr. Systems Administrator.
