Case Study: DERMA E achieves fault-tolerant, cost-effective hyperconverged infrastructure with StarWind Software

A StarWind Software Case Study

Preview of the Derma E Case Study

DERMA E got a hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) at a reasonable price with the StarWind software-defined storage stack

DERMA E, a major U.S. natural facial-care brand selling through retailers and online, needed a reliable, fault-tolerant IT environment. Their two-node VMware cluster relied on VMware vSphere Storage Appliance (VSA), which was being retired and wasn’t compatible with vSphere 6.5, leaving them without true failover or vendor support.

DERMA E deployed StarWind Virtual SAN, added a third host and upgraded the hypervisors to form a cost-effective hyperconverged infrastructure; this expanded storage, enabled full failover, and allowed individual hosts to be taken down for maintenance without service impact. The solution cost less than other HCI proposals and came with strong ongoing support, so DERMA E will continue using StarWind VSAN.
