Case Study: CSL achieves reduced data center footprint and improved performance with StarWind Software

A StarWind Software Case Study

Preview of the CSL Case Study

CSL reduced the footprint of their data centers and improved performance with the help of StarWind

CSL, a leading marine dry bulk cargo handler and the world’s largest owner/operator of self‑unloading vessels with nearly 100 years of experience, faced a costly and complex IT challenge: a geographically dispersed estate of data centers running VMware vSphere on traditional SANs. To simplify support and reduce cost, CSL evaluated hyperconverged options (VxRail, SimpliVity, Nutanix) and selected StarWind.

Deploying StarWind HyperConverged Appliances in Montreal, Sydney and Boston reduced CSL’s data center footprint from over 25U to 2–4U, improved performance and reliability, and eliminated much of the maintenance burden. With StarWind support handling configuration and upkeep, CSL has cut cost and complexity, reduced operational effort to nearly zero, and is planning to roll the solution out to more servers.
