Auchan Magyarorszag Kft. Initiates Its New POS Systems Thanks to StarWind VSAN

Auchan Magyarorszag Kft., the Hungarian arm of the international Auchan hypermarket chain, needed to deploy new point-of-sale systems across 19 stores. The project required a cost-efficient, high-speed shared storage solution for 2-node Microsoft Hyper‑V clusters using Dell servers and iSCSI links, with zero downtime and built‑in fault tolerance — while avoiding the expense and rigidity of traditional NAS/SAN.

StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN) delivered a software‑defined storage solution that enabled 2‑node fault‑tolerant storage clusters at each location, using mirroring and software/hardware RAID and supporting iSCSI and NVMe‑oF for ultrafast performance. The deployment was completed in all 19 hypermarkets, providing high availability for POS transactions, resilient disaster protection, and transparent, affordable licensing that reduced costs versus conventional storage appliances.
