Allied Engineering & Services (Pvt.) Ltd., a Pakistan-based dealer for Caterpillar earthmoving and power generation equipment with headquarters in Karachi and offices nationwide, needed a high-performance IT infrastructure to support its distributed operations. Its servers used direct-attached storage (DAS) under VMware vSphere, leaving storage decentralized, inefficient, non-fault-tolerant and unable to leverage VMware’s advanced features like live migration.

Allied deployed StarWind Virtual SAN on its existing x86 hardware to replicate and present local disks as shared iSCSI storage.
