How Roche forms global connections in a new world of work

Roche, one of the world’s largest biotech companies with about 100,000 employees, needed a way to tap into its distributed knowledge, find experts in real time, and avoid silos across functions and geographies. To address that challenge, Roche selected Starmind and its AI‑driven expertise directory/real‑time knowledge platform to surface tacit knowledge, support multi‑language questions, and integrate with existing tools.

Starmind implemented a pilot (1,000 users) and expanded the platform globally, driving rapid adoption to nearly 9,000 users by 2023. The solution enabled more than 10,000 knowledge searches and 14,000 expert inquiries, saved about 91,000 hours otherwise spent hunting for information, and answered over 90% of questions; Starmind’s integrations (e.g., Google Cloud Search) and automatic translation have made expert discovery faster and more efficient across Roche.
