SMPS Indiana, a local chapter of the Society for Marketing Professional Services, faced the ongoing challenge of keeping members engaged, onboarding newcomers effectively, and delivering high-value professional programs while managing event logistics and feedback. The chapter needed ways to welcome new members, encourage committee involvement, break up closed social circles, and gather actionable member input to inform programming.
SMPS Indiana combined member-focused tactics—welcome emails, one-on-one meetings, a Buddy Program, committee invitations, and annual focus groups—with StarChapter’s event-management tools for communications, registration and payment tracking, surveys, and event history. The result: a half-day workshop that became one of the chapter’s largest-attended education programs in years, stronger member advocacy and volunteer involvement, clearer planning from member feedback, and more efficient event operations.
