A Stanley Convergent Security Solutions, Inc Case Study
Edinboro University of Pennsylvania partnered with longtime integrator Stanley Convergent Security Solutions, Inc to solve a specific accessibility challenge: enabling a quadriplegic resident, Norah Scholl, to open and secure her residence-hall door independently. The university — which serves about 7,100 students, including more than 500 with physical or cognitive disabilities — wanted a solution that exceeded ADA minimums while preserving safety and dignity.
Stanley Convergent Security Solutions, Inc developed and installed a custom access solution combining a bespoke iPhone/web app (voice-activated), HID proximity reader, electric strike, low-energy door operator, BEST controller and backup wireless operator positioned for Scholl’s use. Built with direct input from the student and installed in four months, the system permits credentialed entry from three feet away, lets Scholl lock/unlock and open her door hands-free, and has significantly increased her independence and safety while serving as a model for broader campus accessibility.
