A Staff Management | SMX Case Study
Multi-Facility Manufacturing and Distribution Company, a rural multi-facility manufacturing and distribution operation, struggled to staff its plant consistently due to fluctuating labor demand, limited visibility in the community, and heavy reliance on word-of-mouth recruiting. These issues led to high weekly turnover, safety incidents, low productivity, and disengaged associates. Staff Management | SMX supported the client with its Onsite Workforce Management (OWM) solution to address these staffing and retention challenges.
Staff Management | SMX implemented a specialized recruitment team, a centralized service desk, and multiple employee engagement and safety initiatives, including town halls, surveys, on-site employee relations support, new hire and OSHA safety training, and an on-site safety manager. The vendor also expanded community outreach through job fairs, flyers, and letters to local churches. As a result, weekly turnover dropped by 5.2% from 7% in 2007 to 1.8% in 2015, fill rates remained at 99.5%, and TRI rates were reduced by 80%.
