A StackStorm Case Study
Pearson, the world’s learning company, was undergoing a major digital transformation to improve online education delivery at global scale. With more than 400 development teams, 36,000 servers, and over 2,000 applications, Pearson needed a way to standardize development, reduce tool sprawl and shadow IT, and give developers a faster, more consistent experience without limiting their freedom to use preferred tools. StackStorm was brought in as part of Pearson’s cloud platform strategy.
Pearson implemented Bitesize, a next-gen cloud platform built on containers, Kubernetes, and StackStorm to provide an API abstraction layer for automated testing, CI/CD, and global deployment. StackStorm enabled workflow automation, integration with services like AWS, MongoDB, Consul, and Vault, and support for cloud-agnostic delivery while improving compliance, visibility, and developer self-service. The result was a more streamlined platform that now supports more than 100,000 active learners, with formal budget and C-level support behind the initiative.
