McDonald’s Australia brought back its popular Monopoly promotion and wanted to add a social dimension to boost awareness and participation. The campaign generated large volumes of customer photos and posts (Instant Wins and “Monopoly Mo” selfies), and McDonald’s needed a way to capture, curate and repurpose that UGC into their display advertising.
Using Stackla (Visual UGC by Nosto), McDonald’s aggregated content via the #MonopolyAtMaccas hashtag, curated top posts and served them in custom MREC ad units reintegrated into their online media spend. The UGC-powered ads drove traffic to the Monopoly campaign page, showcased authentic customer recommendations and helped increase engagement and participation across the promotion.
