Case Study: Verlagsgruppe Passau achieves scalable, authentic local content and increased audience engagement with Stackla

A Stackla Case Study

Preview of the Verlagsgruppe Passau Case Study

How Passauer Created an App & Microsite of Geolocated Visual Content Using Stackla

Verlagsgruppe Passau (VGP), a major regional publisher behind titles like Passauer Neue Presse, needed to modernize as readers and advertisers moved to mobile and social channels. Their challenge was to attract Millennials and Gen Z with authentic, local content while scaling coverage of some 1,500 attractions and re-engaging businesses that had shifted ad spend away from print.

VGP launched LocalHub.de and iOS/Android apps using Stackla to aggregate and rights-manage user-generated photos and videos, supplemented by student “scouts,” map-based discovery, CTAs to venue pages, RSS integration and Zapier automations. The campaign delivered strong engagement and SEO benefits — ~1,000 Android downloads, 10,000 monthly active users, 1,500 Facebook fans and repeat visits 2–3 times daily — and created a scalable model ready for regional expansion.
