Children International Fights Poverty With Help From Retrace

Children International, a Missouri‑headquartered nonprofit that supports roughly 260,000 kids worldwide, was struggling with recurring .NET errors, poor visibility into production performance, and bot-driven hacking attempts that caused daily spikes in errors. Seeking to stop errors from slipping into production and avoid juggling multiple tools, Director of Application Services Kevin Altis turned to Stackify and began a trial of their Retrace application performance platform.

Stackify’s Retrace uncovered the bot activity within a day of installation and became the team’s primary tool for errors, logs, and monitoring, while Prefix provided lightweight local profiling. Using Retrace, developers quickly identified a faulty query (missing index), re-added the index to restore performance, and now collaborate faster by sharing log and exception links. As a result, Children International has much faster issue detection and resolution and a more proactive production monitoring practice that lets them fix problems before customers notice.
