Case Study: Intuit boosts developer collaboration and knowledge reuse with Stack Overflow for Teams

A Stack Overflow Case Study

Preview of the Intuit Case Study

How Intuit embraced lean collaboration

Intuit, the global financial software company behind QuickBooks and TurboTax, needed to break down engineering silos and improve communication across offices as teams shifted to remote work. To capture and organize tribal knowledge and reduce constant interruptions to support engineers, Intuit adopted Stack Overflow for Teams in June 2019 as an internal searchable knowledge base.

Stack Overflow rolled out via a phased pilot to roughly 5,000 engineers and by summer 2020 was used company-wide, with the community contributing over 7,000 questions and adding 100+ Q&As per month. Using Stack Overflow for Teams, Intuit now sees knowledge reused nearly 120 times a day and a 20–30% drop in Slack support-channel questions, boosting support productivity and accelerating InnerSource collaboration across the company.
