VOG AG, an Austrian wholesaler for food and non-food products, faced the challenge of expanding its warehouse capacity to combat personnel shortages and rising energy costs while needing to integrate new processes with its existing structures in Linz. Partnering with SSI SCHAEFER, the company sought a customized automation solution to future-proof its logistics.

SSI SCHAEFER implemented a fully automated pallet high-bay warehouse featuring four energy-efficient SSI Exyz storage-retrieval machines and controlled by its WAMAS software. The solution provided 11,000 additional pallet locations and a bidirectional conveying system for seamless integration. The results were significant, with the system handling up to 180 pallets per hour—exceeding initial requirements—while achieving substantial energy savings and providing scalable performance to accommodate future growth and seasonal peaks.
