ORCA Cold Chain Solutions, the logistics arm of ISOC Holdings in the Philippines, faced a significant challenge in managing the country's complex food supply chain. The geographical difficulty of distributing goods across more than 7,600 islands created a gap between rapid urbanization and the need for food safety, accessibility, and availability. To address this, they partnered with vendor SSI SCHAEFER to establish the nation's first fully automated cold storage facility.

SSI SCHAEFER implemented its Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) and its proprietary WAMAS® logistics software to create a seamless, automated solution. This minimized human intervention, ensuring the integrity of the goods, while the software provided 100% traceability and accountability with real-time monitoring. The result was a highly efficient operation that optimized space, goods movement, and resources, ultimately fortifying the Philippines' food industry with higher quality assurance and greater capacity.
