JYSK, a leading global retailer of mattresses and home furnishings, faced the challenge of managing its wide and growing variety of items, including oversized furniture packages, across its international operations. To modernize its logistics and guarantee efficient, on-time delivery to its 2,800+ stores, JYSK partnered with intralogistics expert SSI SCHAEFER to expand and upgrade its central distribution center in Uldum, Denmark.

SSI SCHAEFER acted as the general contractor, implementing a turnkey solution that included constructing a fourth high-bay warehouse and expanding the miniload system, adding over 82,000 pallet storage locations. The solution featured energy-efficient storage-retrieval machines capable of handling custom big box pallets, ergonomic goods-to-person picking workstations, and the intelligent WAMAS® logistics software to control all processes. The project, completed without interrupting operations, consolidated four external warehouses into one highly dynamic center, creating one of Denmark's largest distribution centers with 215,000 pallet and 45,000 tray storage locations, which eliminated cumbersome product tourism and ensured availability during peak times.
