Grolleman Coldstore, a full-service provider for cooled and frozen storage, needed to maximize space efficiency in its 6,500 m² cold store warehouse in Apeldoorn, Netherlands. To keep operating costs low in this compact, deep-freeze environment, they partnered with SSI Schaefer for a high-density storage solution.

SSI Schaefer implemented a mobile racking system that utilizes the entire available space and height, storing pallets up to 10.5 meters high across five levels. The system, controlled by a WMS, features 50 trolleys and automatically opens aisles for forklifts, saving time. This solution provided Grolleman with capacity for 15,000 tons of goods on over 23,000 pallets, achieving the customer's goal of a compact, highly efficient, and cost-effective frozen storage warehouse.
