Gebr. Heinemann, a duty-free retailer, needed a highly efficient and flexible automated warehouse to serve its numerous airport and travel locations across Europe. The challenge was to create a state-of-the-art logistics center for timely deliveries and high product availability. To meet these goals, they partnered with vendor SSI SCHAEFER for an intelligent intralogistics solution.

SSI SCHAEFER implemented its patented 3D-MATRIX Solution®, which combines shuttle and storage technologies. This system includes a high-bay warehouse, 64 multi-level shuttles, and ergonomic picking stations, enabling a goods-to-person principle. The solution provides immense flexibility and future expandability, achieving a throughput of 750 pallets per shift and ensuring reliable, on-time delivery to Heinemann's shops.
