Coop Logistics AB, the logistics arm of one of Sweden's leading grocery retailers, faced the challenge of replacing its outdated infrastructure to meet growing demands for efficiency, sustainability, and supply chain reliability. Their goal was to consolidate manual operations into a single, highly automated distribution center capable of handling both ambient and fresh goods for over 800 stores. To address this, they partnered with vendor SSI Schaefer.

SSI Schaefer implemented a comprehensive, automated intralogistics solution centered around their SSI Case Picking system, supported by WAMAS logistics software. The system automates the entire material flow, from automated depalletizing and storage in small parts warehouses to robotic palletizing, handling over 600,000 units daily. This resulted in optimized material flow, higher accuracy, and reduced transport volumes. The solution significantly enhanced sustainability by enabling a shift to rail deliveries, reducing the carbon footprint, while the ergonomic design improved employee well-being and productivity.
