The beverage manufacturer RheinfelsQuellen faced the significant challenge of managing seasonal peaks and complex intralogistics processes for its high-volume bottling operations, particularly concerning the handling and supply of over 200 different types of returnable bottles. To increase capacity, simplify processes, and ensure the needs-based supply of empty bottles to its production lines, the company partnered with vendor SSI Schaefer for a holistic solution.

SSI Schaefer implemented a fully automated high-bay warehouse featuring the Exyz storage and retrieval machines and their Lift&Run system, all managed by the intelligent WAMAS software. The solution included a revolutionary material flow control and a vision system for automated empties detection and assessment. This allowed RheinfelsQuellen to achieve all its targets, resulting in a system that runs steadily with excellent performance, a significant increase in overall efficiency, and a reduction in logistics costs.
